4 Weeks Later - Update

So.. been a busy bee lately .. website redesign for a client (Lisa's Counter Culture) along with some other multimedia and video projects. The main project however has been for myself.. yes... finally have a NEW WEBSITE that is just about done! Look/Feel will be similar but more samples of my work along with the blog being located at the site itself.

Working to get it launched later this week or early next week!

Oh.. In pulling images for the new site, I've come across some great shots from the past.. I'll share those here as well! Have a great week!

The Sleeper and 90 Seconds of STRESS!

So, I was shooting an event earlier this week.. company lecture, with guests from a local college.  There were about 4 people taking turns at the podium, pretty basic format.. grab a few images of each one from 3 or 4 different locations then go for the reaction shots of audience...

On the last speaker, I noticed this gentlemen starting to doze, and I took the shot from my hip (camera hanging down) and fired it off...I've gotten many happy accident/great photos this way in all my years of shooting.  Of course this time was about to be different...

The flash and noise from the shutter made him open his eyes.. and let me tell ya.. he was NOT happy!  He opens his eyes and said "NOT FUNNY"... in a very low, very serious, tone.

I walked slowly by him and whispered, "I'm sorry...."  and then I turned towards him and he literally looks at me, stoic faced, takes a beat and says "Gotcha! I'm Just Kidding.. life's to short.!!! "   OMG!  A HUGE Sigh of relief on my part   I really thought I was done shooting for that company ever again!

I then sat next to him, showed the image and we laughed, quietly.. as there was speaker talking...   He said that he works with him and the local college and has heard the same speech 100+ times... etc..

Gotta tell ya .. I was a little nervous for 90 seconds there!

 

NAB 2011

Just back from NAB 2011 and it was quite a show!  Saw some long lost friends in the industry and made some new ones as well.  I really didn't t take to many pictures... nice to just relax a bit.  Here are a few from Manfrotto and Active Storage... two great companies offering awesome products.  Oh.. the guys at Manfrotto were performing some really cool magic.. and the flame thrower in the arm was to light the floating cigarette illusion.  Pretty cool stuff.

 

Run for The Wall

I was asked to cover a fundraiser BBQ this past weekend in El Segundo for Run for the Wall.  Had a great time, met lots of really really nice people.  The event itself is in May 18 - 27, 2011 where ALOT of people will ride motorcycles across the country in dedication to POW's and MIA's.

ROTC from Redondo Beach Union performed the flag ceremony.  Ray Weldon (first picture below)  will be 92 years old this May.  He was on Iwo Jima.  An amazing Man.  Some other pics as well including the empty table in memory of those who have not yet returned from service.

 

 

Kimberly Clark Wrap Up with Stephen M.R. Covey

Just finishing up last's weeks events with Kimberly Clark.  On the final day Stephen M.R. Covey came to talk about Trust.  A very informative lecture and how it affects all of our lives, from business (large and small) as well as our personal lives.

Some great information was taught.

Kimberly Clark Team Building @ Sony Studios

Had a great three days working with Feet First Events as they produced a Kimberly Clark team building event at Marina Del Rey Ritz Carlton and Sony Studios backlot.

One of the surprises was that KC employees getting to shoot a 3 min trailer for a sequel to either Ghostbusters, Austin Powers, Men In Black or Pirates of the Caribbean on the lot at Sony. A few famous people walked by,  (Diane Keaton & Harvey Weinstein) but didn't offer their services!

A crash course in shooting, audio/boom, scripting writing, slate, directing and of course acting were taught, then the greenlight was given!

Was a blast!

 

 

 

 

I've Been Tweeted? Twittered? • Update

Update: Found that the top image was published in the El Segundo Herald - a weekly, and can be see on the main page at Raytheon.com

 

So.. just found out that some of the shoots I've been covering for Raytheon for the past year have been sent out via Twitter and TwitPic .  Here are the 2 most recent...

This one was just taken on March 14th aka "Pi Day"... (3.14)... Where Raytheon went to a local middle school and gave out real pies.. plus had a little quiz on Pi.

Levar Burton

Covered an event last week where Levar Burton was the guest speaker.  He as extremely nice, matter of fact, he noticed that I had a camera in hand and walked right up to introduce himself to me.

I always make a point of introducing myself to those being photographed at corporate events, especially actors, telling them that I won't "overshoot" the event, with FLASH going off the entire time. I don't want them to feel self-conscious.. i.e. paparazzi!

The overall topic was Diversity and he spoke about his life as a young theatre major at USC and how everything changed for him once he was cast in Roots.  (IMDB here).  Here are few pics of the day along with some the audience during Q/A.

Oh.. and yes.. many people asked about his time as Geordi La Forge, in Star Trek: The Next Generation

Corp Golf Game - Robinson Ranch Golf Club

Shot a corporate golf tournament at Robinson Ranch Golf Club few weeks back.  Had great weather, albeit a bit windy to start... Golf can be tough to make look interesting, but reaction shots are always fun!
